About Me:
My inspirations and history as a photographer.
My name is Lily (aka Grynz), and I am a photographer based in the Puget Sound area of Washington
State.
I have loved photography for as long as I can remember. My passion for photography first began
in
the mid-1980's,
when I was just a toddler. At the time, my father worked as a merchant marine, sailing all
around
the world on giant
ships, such as oil tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships. He would be gone for several
months
at a time,
however, each time he returned home, he would bring back souveniers and pictures of all the
places
he went so that I
could see the world through his eyes. We would spend many hours looking through the photos
together,
while he told me all
about where they were taken, and what was going on. I was fascinated because it gave me a
first-hand
look at places that
most people only get to see in books or on TV, such as Antarctica.
I always loved the way that each photo told a story! I wanted to be able to do that too, so
when photography classes were
offered, beginning in the 8th grade and extending through high school, I signed up right away.
And
by the grace of God,
was blessed with having the best photography teacher ever, Ms. Gay Johnson. Over the span of 4
years, she gave me a better
education in all things photography than I could have gotten anywhere else, including the most
reputable of art schools in the
country.
Over the years, photography has been a constant in my life, however, I kept it as a hobby, and
never
pursued it as a career. I have always
had a general passion for art & all things creative, and have been involved in many different
types
of art, such as drawing, beading, and sewing.
I have always enjoyed the creative process, and the way that art allows me to express myself in
ways
that words cannot.
However, photography has always held a special place in my heart, because it allows me to
capture
moments in time that will never happen again.
It allows me to tell stories through images, and to share my perspective with the world.
As technology has advanced, and AI has started to take over, I have watched the world becvome
artisticly lazy and replace true creativity with
computer generated, thoughtless, and soulless images. It's made me indescribably sad to see the
art
world become so devalued, and I have been determined
to do my part to keep true art alive. I have been working hard to improve my photography skills,
and
to create images that are not only visually
stunning, but also meaningful and thought-provoking. I want my photos to inspire people, to make
them feel something that no computer can replicate, and to remind them of the beauty
and wonder of the world around us... Remind people that computers are not meant to be a
replacement
for creativity, and the effort that goes into creating true art, but rather,
a tool to be used in the creative process.
For those reasons, I have decided to start sharing my photography with the world, and to offer
my
services as a photographer for those who are looking for something truly unique and special.
Whether
it's a portrait session, an event, or a custom photo shoot, I am passionate about creating
images
that will be cherished for a lifetime.
